Roderick Robertson, Managing Partner

"At Briggs, we counsel clients to make sure they know what they want to get out of a transaction. Do they want the security of a bigger ship, or do they want control and flexibility? These are the same issues we faced in selling our own companies."

As the Managing Partner of Briggs Capital, Rod has focused on maximizing value for sellers through a variety of innovative exit strategies. The huge amount of capital that Private Equity firms have recently amassed for acquisitions in the low to mid markets has totally changed the dynamics of selling a business and has paved the way for sellers to receive windfall profits for their firms. Rod enjoys positioning sellers to receive top dollar for their companies in a creative fashion that often goes well beyond the seller’s expectations.

Rod brings over 20 years of transaction experience and entrepreneurial accomplishments to Briggs Capital. During his career, Rod has served as president and CEO for distribution, real estate, consumer products and software companies.

Over the last six years, Rod has successfully represented in transactions over 25 companies seeking to sell or recapitalize their business, raise equity or divest subsidiaries, including such recognized brands as the Impromptu Gourmet, Cape Cod Foods, Speedway & Stadium, Compendium, Cascade Helmets, and Lexics.

Rod’s clients represent a wide range of industries, including:

  • Human Capital Management
  • Staffing and IT Training
  • Direct mail catalog
  • Food manufacturing
  • Sporting goods manufacturing
  • Electronics manufacturing and assembly
  • Industrial manufacturing

As a former owner of a business which he took out of receivership, repositioned, grew and then sold after four years, Rod truly understands the peaks and valleys of business ownership like few other intermediaries. Rod enjoys motivational speaking at home and abroad and has traveled to over fifty countries, collecting an eclectic range of military antiques.
